Baptism: To Fulfill All Righteousness
Why did Jesus need to be baptized?
It’s a question even John asked. When Jesus came to him, John tried to prevent Him, saying that he should be baptized by Jesus instead. But Jesus answered:
“Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” — Matt 3:15
To fulfill all righteousness.
Those words give us a powerful picture of Jesus. He came to be obedient and to fulfill the Father’s mission. His life was about surrendering Himself completely to the will of the Father.
There is also good reason to believe there was significance in where Jesus was baptized. Israel had crossed the Jordan River at this very place after wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Jesus was entering the water as He began His earthly mission – fulfilling and stepping into His mission of redemption. Jesus wasn’t being baptized because He needed to repent. There was no sin in Him to turn away from. His baptism was an act of obedience and dedication.
That is what makes baptism so significant.
Unlike Jesus, every one of us has sinned. We have all fallen short of God’s righteousness, and we need His forgiveness and His righteousness rather than our own.
For us, baptism is a public picture of repentance, a deliberate choice to leave behind the old way of living and rise into a new life in Jesus. At The Father’s House, our baptism service walks through this picture intentionally. We begin with repentance: acknowledging our sin, turning away from our old way of living, and turning to Jesus. Then, we move into water baptism. As we are submerged beneath the water, it represents our old life dying with Jesus. As we come up out of the water, it represents being raised into new life with Him. From there, we move into being baptized in the Holy Spirit, as members of our pastoral team lay hands on each person and pray for them. It is a picture of the whole transformation: turning from the old life, dying and rising with Jesus, and stepping into new life empowered by the Holy Spirit to follow Him and live His way.
On Sunday, September 20, we will have a baptism service. I want to invite you to take this step - to publicly declare that you are leaving behind your way of doing life and choosing to fully align yourself with Jesus and His way.
It is more than getting baptized. It is saying: “Jesus, my life belongs to You. I choose Your way.”
If you want to get baptized on Sunday, September 20, please join us at Father’s House Acres (3556 Oro Bangor Hwy, Oroville, CA) at 12:30 PM. We will have BBQ and potluck lunch, followed by the baptism and fellowship. Please wear a dark shirt, bring a towel and a change of clothes.
Living for Jesus: Building a Strong Foundation
What does it really look like to live for Jesus? Our recent Living for Jesus course was created to help answer that question and give people a place to learn, ask questions, and grow together.

The course is especially designed for those who are new to Christianity, new to The Father’s House, or simply want to go back to the foundations of their faith and grow deeper in their walk with Jesus. It was a time of honest conversations, in-depth questions, teaching, and fellowship as we explored what it really means to build our lives on Jesus.
For Loren, who is fairly new to The Father’s House, the course came at just the right time.
“The Living for Jesus course was just what I needed. The intentional pastoral care was so wonderful to experience. I loved the real depth and honest questions and thoughts that were raised.”
Loren especially appreciated being able to talk through real-life questions, including how to become more comfortable worshiping alongside others.
And Loren’s only complaint? “It was too darn short!”
If you’re new to Christianity, new to The Father’s House, or simply want to grow deeper in your faith and fellowship, keep an eye out for our next Living for Jesus series!
Miruna: How Going On Outreach Helped Me Heal

I came to The Father’s House Church as a very broken person. I had just walked through some earth-shattering things in my life, and honestly, the last thing on my mind was helping anyone else. I was struggling just to see beyond what I was facing.
Then I came to a church where giving your life away was one of the core messages and it was being lived out every day. When I heard about a team going out each week to meet people’s physical needs and share the good news of Jesus, my first thought was, “I really don’t want to do that.”
But Jesus made it clear that this was exactly where He wanted me.
I still remember stepping onto the streets for the first time. I met people who were hurting, lost, and broken, and a deep compassion came over me that I can only describe it as coming from Jesus. I felt His presence in a way I hadn’t experienced in a very long time.
I realized that day: Jesus is with the lost and the broken. As I followed Him into those places and loved people, He began healing parts of me I thought could never be healed.
Almost five years later, outreach is one of the greatest joys of my week.
Want to join us? We go out every Monday from 1–3 PM. Come see what happens when you say yes to Jesus.
